Low-Cost Spay Neuter Services Are Available, Save Lives
To the Editor:
As the recent tragic events at Sweet Tails Rescue remind us, overpopulation of cats and dogs and its impact on animal welfare remains a real problem right here in New Hampshire. Rozzie May Animal Alliance feels that a humane way to reduce both the number of homeless animals and the strain on our overburdened shelter system is to provide low-cost spay neuter services.
In fact, RMAA has been doing just this for the past eight years. Our highly trained veterinary team has “fixed” more than 9,000 cats and dogs throughout New Hampshire and Western Maine during this time, preventing countless unwanted litters. As a nonprofit, our low-cost surgeries are made possible through the generous support of our donors and fundraising events like our upcoming annual benefit auction and luncheon on August 30th.
Pet owners can do their part to improve animal welfare by ensuring they spay neuter their companion animals. This common, safe surgery provides cats and dogs with significant health benefits, extends their lives and improves behavior. Contrary to myth, spay neuter does NOT make pets fat or feel like less of a “man” or “woman.”
Truly affordable and comprehensive spay neuter care is available to pet owners throughout New Hampshire through Rozzie May Animal Alliance. There are no income limits and no excuses not to “fix” our furry family members. Together, we can reduce the number of unwanted animals entering shelters while improving the lives of animals already here. To learn more, visit www.RozzieMay.org.
